Reask / An Riasc Stone Pair On the south side of Smerwick Harbour by the left hand side of the road leading to Reask-Riasc monastic site are a fine pair of standing stones. The stones are in a NNW-SSE alignment and stand just less than one metre apart. The pointed stone, suggesting a male, is the taller of the two and stands 1.9 metres high, the flat-topped, suggesting female stone, stands just 1.6 metres high. A large packing stone is lying between the pair. It is believed cattle was driven between the stones to help with fertility. There is another interesting pair of stones, situated not to far from here, in Ballineanig-Castlequarter townland.
